Percentage Rate Vs Apr
Many of us don’t understand the difference. We only hear the Rate Number. The rate isn’t the total cost of the loan. Bank fees and charges make up the total APR. Recently, I was quoted from an online bank a 5.5% rate with 6.37 APR.I have over 800 credit score with 20% down. The optimal difference should be .1 - .25 spread. Don’t pay anymore than you have to. Get a qualified loan officer and get an Official Closing Estimate before you go to the closing table. Make sure the payment, rate, and cost are all spelled out. Call us for further help.
